{sometimes I just have to laugh}

The Viscose ruffle sleeve tank looked so good on Vanessa here (as did the Sunray necklace).

Me--not so good.
I think it is the slightly overdone combination of the ruffled sleeves, the bow on the skirt, the color of the skirt, and the pearls that I was playing around with~~BUT in this picture I think I look like a transvestite.
Haha!  Aaaaaah---oh, dear.  Maybe the aqua skirt is a questionable piece after all...

I agree that seperate it would probably look lovely but together it is a bit much. Both are beautiful on you!

I don't think this looks bad at all! I actually really like it!

No...not a transvestite...you look cute!

But that tank bugs the you know what outta me. I hate that the armpit area has a growth. That just smacks of "wrong."

So if you don't want to keep the tank (which you make look good), I won't fault you...at all. ;)

I think it you would choose higher waisted pencil skirt with no embelishments on the front, it would look the same. Also, seems like Vanessa's top was a size smaller ( I might be wrong). You have fantatsic body and anything you out on looks very well. You look absolutely amazing in fitted tees and dresses. I think this silhouette is a little looser on you, that's why you don't like it as much!

Heehee--armpit growth! That is funny! I really don't know what to do with both of these pieces so I appreciate all of the input. The top is already an XS, so it seems that the general consensus is that it is too big for me.
I'm contemplating returning one or both pieces?!

Thank you everyone!

A transvestite??? NEVER!

I really like the bow skirt. You can pull off any look.

I love the bow skirt! The color is fabulous-- keep it! I always feel like the catalog looks never quite come out for me either.

heavens no! love the skirt, just maybe with a top that is a little less *sweet*? A white button-down or a simple tank? LOVE the skirt- keep it and you are the furthest thing from a transvestite possible!

First time commenting, long time reader... just love your blog and your excellent fashion sense!

I love the skirt on you, so adorable but like the others think the top is too big! I'm still LOL about the underarm growth --too funny!

You have such a great figure that you should always show it off in those fitted tops! In fact the pictures of yourself in the JC scoopneck tee convinced me to buy it in several colors even though I won't look half as good as you in them!!

I love the skirt on you in that color! The shirt can go back, it's nothing special (I don't care for it on her either, so it's not just you! :) The skirt however is a winner on you! I have that same pearl necklace and LOVE it!

I love the top, and would love to see it with the twig skirt or a paler lighter skirt and perhaps your hair to part in the middle, if you would consider - that is what I love about J.Crew, the models hair looks updated and fresh.
I think your size - and stature - you can wear anything. No, you would never look like a hot tranny mess.

Your perception and mine? Totally different. But, then again, I was never a girl, so what do I know?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the aqua skirt!!!

NO you do not look like a transvestite! Haha

Still, I agree with others, smaller shirt, higher waisted skirt. I would also suggest wearing a longer necklace so that it merges with the neckline of the top. The skirt is cute! I think it would go really well with something very simple up top.

Transvestite...never!!
I love the skirt. I love the shirt.
Just not together.
I wouldnt do a necklace, with the shirt, it competes with the line of the ruffles. A fun chandelier earring in shell would be a greater compliment especially with your lovely long neck.
The skirt...less fuss, shorter so there's no tuck in & less blousson. Id love it dramatic with a coral or pink, depending on your skin tone.

You guys are the best! I really appreciate all of the suggestions! THANK YOU!!

Nah, I still love the skirt, I think it just needs a different top...a simple top so it doesn't take away from the bow.
