It is that time of year and
I am Lil Petunia is suddenly consumed by a craving for New Orleans King Cake! The top picture is from Randazzo's which makes a delicious "Pecan Praline King Cake". The bottom picture is from Haydel's bakery and the reason we love this one is for the abundant use of pure sugar on top. Yum! More sugar and less white icing =
delicious!!!You know who you are NOLA peeps! Please send me sweet Lil Petunia one!
I'll even make it a trade...let's see...I can offer up a brand new unopened DVD of Momma Mia and some locally dipped Hoffman's chocolate covered pretzels!!!

You are KILLING me with these photos! I prefer the Heydel's myself since it is not so fancy. I want a huge slab of bread with some frosting and tons of crispy sugar on it!!! And of course, the King and the Baby inside!!
I'm going out to try and find one RIGHT NOW. For me....errrrrr...I mean the Future Rock Star. I can't eat things like that...
Laissez les bon temps roulet!!!

Tomorrow is our second parade, and I have been receiving so many cakes they're coming out of my ears! HAHA! One of our bakerys here does a killer pecan praline! And every year, no matter who's cake i'm eating...I always get the baby! My mom says its what happens when I move from Hawaii to Louisiana.
I love King Cake. I hope you get to enjoy one soon. Oh, I mean Lil P gets to enjoy one soon.
King cake is delicious. I wouldn't be giving away a copy of Mamma Mia...unless you have one of your own. I LOVE that movie!
I just had some last week!!! It is sooo good! Just thinking about it has me drooling! I hope someone is able to send you one!!!
:)
Funny you should mention that...I just looked at one in Whole Foods but it wasn't the brands you mention. I think it was their version. I didn't buy one but now think that I'm regretting that decision...
One word ~ yummy!
Wish I lived closer, I'd stop by for a slice with you. I mean your daughter :)
Love the desk!
Have a great weekend,
Jo
My husband received the Haydel's cake as a gift and we thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. We have never had it before and it was such fun to read the tradition and enjoy it with our family.
Hubby & I christened our home with a praline pecan king cake Fat Tuesday. We had nothing to eat but our king cake for dinner. Even in the midst of a move you gotta celebrate Mardi Gras.
This evening in the grocery store parking lot they were selling boiled crawfish. Doesn't that make you miss home?
I'm right there with you! I didn't order my annual king cake from Gambino's in Baton Rouge and I am kicking myself now. I did get to enjoy some delicious boiled crawfish in my recent all-too-brief trip home though!
Haha I just saw this!!!
