.....and are ready for a puppy! It's been two years since our beloved Bichon, Chloe, passed away at the age of 15.
We have fallen in love with the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed! They are so sweet-tempered, cute, and don't get too big. We think it would be the perfect addition to our family. Finding a puppy from a reputable breeder is a much more daunting task that we were prepared for! There are so many slick websites out there with puppy brokers--it breaks my heart! They usually feature irresistible photos like this one to lure you in (yep--my daughter was very upset when she found out that we wouldn't have Adriana shipped to us from South Dakota (even though the broker was more than willing to ship her that far!) She was on a Florida Cavalier website! Sneaky if you ask me!:
We went to the ckcsc.org website and learned a lot of useful information and now we are seriously hoping to find our puppy by the Summer.
If anyone can recommend any good breeders in the South, any tips, suggestions--I would appreciate it! We are having a hard time finding much out there. Cavaliers are prone to heart problems and luxated patella, so we really want one from a trustworthy breeder.

I just saw a lady with several of these puppies over the weekend! They were adorable. And I feel the same way about puppy buying - my family wants to buy a puppy but everything seems so far away and we don't want to end up buying from a puppy mill. We almost bought one while overseas but the plane ride would've been 10+ hours... good luck with the search!
A girl I know got hers from Europe. To Tennessee. Not sure why she couldn't find one closer because I'm with you - that kind of plane ride just doesn't seem right.
I did find a place in Indiana I think that flies the Cavalier puppies with "puppy nannies." But this was over a year ago and I have no idea what the name of the breeder was. Sorry I'm no help!
I think you should always buy locally where you can actually see the parents on premises which shows that they have nothing to hide. This will also give you the ability to pick out the temperment you want. Like us they all have different personalities.
And I just died. Yup, I'm dead. DEAD FROM THE CUTENESS! I love King Charles pups! *squeaks!*
What a PRECIOUS puppy!
I have a 10 yr. old female Blenheim cavalier, we got her from a breeder in Tallahassee. She's a beautiful, but on the larger side. Have you checked out Coosa Creek in West Palm Beach? The owners name is Julie, she breeds the pups in her home and welcomes visitors. The website is coosacreekcavaliers.com. Good luck in your search, these dogs are the best!
Love CKCSCs. My daughter wanted one but we wound up with 2 golden ret.s instead. My friend has 2 and they are great dogs. Good luck with your search. It's nice when you can interact with the pups to find out their personality before adopting.
They are such wonderful breeds! My friend bought one and is in love with the little guy!
Congratulations on your new addition!! When we were looking for a dog, my husband said that a good breeder will want to interview you, and not the other way around. We could tell the woman who gave us Dundee really cared about her dogs.
I know nothing about breeders, but those dogs are adorable. How fun that you're adding on to your family. I hope you find the dog you're looking for soon.
My neighbor has a cavalier from a reputable breeder. I'll ask her and email you. The dog is absolutely gorgeous!! I bet Lil P is just so excited (and who wouldn't be after that adorable picture!)
I adore Cavaliers! They are my number one dog breed tied with Pomeranians. They are the perfect pet! I am looking to get one possibly in the next few years and I have searched the internet as well for breeders. I have no experience with any breeders, but I have looked at this breeder's website many times and she seems legit. I found this breeder through the ACKCSC.org website. They have numerous breeders in FL listed on there as well.
Here is the breeder's website. They are located around Atlanta.

How cute and exciting!
You made the right decision about a Cavalier! I organize a Cavalier Meet-Up group in Washington, DC. We have over 230 people and dogs in our group and we get together once a month. I own a 4 year old Blenheim boy and you can't convince me that this is not the best breed of dog in the world! As far as breeders, you alredy have been to the CKCSC web site -- which is great source of info as you found. There are also breeders listed there by state. You can be fairly well assured that if a breeder is listed there then he or she is reputable because if they are on the CKCSC web site then they are in good standing with the Club and adhere to strict breeding and ethics guidelines. Feel free to e-mail me directly if you want more info at annega at microsoft dot com or visit our Meet-Up Group's wweb site at http://cavalierspaniel.meetup.com/52/. They are truly wonderful dogs. So easy, great travelers and wonderful with kids. Best of luck. You won't regret your decision.
These dogs are just precious!
How exciting!!! They are all so adorable! My Aunt got her King Charles from a breader in the South, I'll try and find out the details on where!
Isn't it awful to see the websites with 25 different breeds that they sell? I hate it! Its like a miniature puppy mill!
I have friends who have had 4 Cavaliers and they are so sweet! I am looking into adopting and adult cavalier next year sometime and they have such a nice personality!
Oh my gosh, PLEASE don't buy a purebred dog! There are so many dogs out there in shelters who need homes. Go to www.petfinder.com and look for your desired breed (Cavaliers).
Even though some snobs would say otherwise, there is no stigma attached to adopting a dog. Because of the huge shelter-dog population issue right now, over 56% of dogs and cats put in shelters are put down. That's over 5 million dogs and cats per year.
By buying purebred animals, you are only perpetuating the problem. Some would say "purebred dogs need homes too", but it's not quite so simple - breeders breed their dogs according to market demand, just like anything else.
Please consider adopting your dog - you won't regret it. My dogs are "shelter" dogs and are well-behaved, loyal, strong, and healthy.

What a cutie! When we were looking for English Bulldogs we too had trouble finding a breeder. I'm just not comfortable putting a puppy on a plane ~ not to mention they drug bullies to keep them "comfortable." I think you're wise to look around in your area. Get to know your breeder ~ this was very helpful when our first one passed away.
Good luck~

I looked at one of these before I ended up getting my little morkie paisley! So so so sweet. They have the BEST temperament! Good choice!
My aunt has a Cav named Bella & she is a LOVE BUG.
I am the proud mommy of a five year old tricolor CKCS. They are the BEST dogs for children and families and I know your daughter will fall in love instantly.
Wishing you much success in your puppy search/adoption.
Awww... what a sweet photo. Good luck searching for your new puppy.

So darn cute - I am crazy for puppies.
We got our CKCS from a breeder in Kentucky and had her shipped to me in Michigan. Sorry I cannot remember the name of the breeder but I can share with you that our Miss Chloe made the trip just fine. We picked her up at the airport and she was very happy to get out of the kennel but seemed to be no worse for the wear from her trip. She was a very sweet dog. When we moved a young family in our old town addopted her. I still miss her very much.
Good luck with your search.
