The theme of this collection is reportedly "Grey Gardens" or "Edie Beale goes to Girl Scout Camp"! Wow, we're not in Kansas any more--that's for sure. Remember when J. Crew used to be preppy? Embroidered whales and stuff??
Will you be shopping at J Crew in the Fall?

Gross! No, I will not be shopping at J. Crew this fall. This collection reminds me of the economy - depressing and crappy. I'll stick to Vineyard Vines and Lilly for the time being. At least I can count on them to be preppy.
Why in the hell would anybody want to dress like an unstable agoraphobe? What a crazy place to draw inspiration from.
Absolutely not! None of those outfits are remotely appealing. Can't they just stay preppy?
They don't even look normal let alone preppy. Lilly and VV are totally the way to go, apparently!
Also, I'm hosting a giveaway on my blog right now!
I was actually just in J Crew today and was not impressed at all. They hardly have any pairs of shorts... they used to have so many in other years! And what's up with their tops being so big and oversized?? There's nothing wrong with tops being a little roomy, but these just look sloppy!
I certainly do see the Grey Gardens influence. Not somewhere that we want to go...
Fashion runs in cycles and it's design around music and movies. Don't fret, this too shall pass.
:-)
I think Nordstrom, LP, Anthro, etc will be getting more of my shopping dollars this season! I can't see how I could work any of these looks (even if I wanted to)... here's hoping they get back to the old J Crew before too long.
I won't be spending any money this fall at J Crew. All of these outfits are flat out depressing. And does anyone over the age of 10 look good high high socks?!
Maybe they meant the "Wednesday Addams" collection. How depressing!
I'm so happy to see that everyone else does not find this "look" very attractive. It reminds me of adolescent children who dress themselves. Not classy at all. However, I do find it very entertaining.
It's been a long time since I've seen you around blog land. Tried Twitter but just wasn't feeling it. Hope life is good. Cute puppy!
Edie Beale looked better - and at least the genesis of her "look" was her fragile psyche, insular lifestyle and her alopecia, no?
While I can respect being inspired by someone iconic, I'd replicate this particular look by poking around at resale and.consigment shops, thrift stores and garage sales. Who knows...you might even find some interesting vintage pieces.
But to answer your question - nope. I won't be shopping at J.Crew this fall...
In a word - No. And what a sad day this is when J. Crew and I part company. xoxo
speechless.
I guess I'll be checking out banana for some of the casual stuff this season
Those definitely do not look J. Crew to me. I won't be shopping there, but I never shop there anyways. (I generally stick to Kohl's with their awesome coupons or Target and Charlotte Russe)
Oh boy... Where do I even begin? Ha ha! I don't think I will be shopping at J Crew this fall. Yuck!
Eww. I don't think JCrew will do well with this borderline goth look.
Depressing.

Oh My! I think they are shooting themselves in the foot with that collection. Shorts (especially those shorts) for fall don't make sense! Really ugly!
Petunia- thank you for the treat! The images are beautiful, despite teh fact that they are not wearable. i am sure I'll be loving the individual pieces once they come out.Interesting to observe the fashion evolution of J crew over the years though.
Seriously...what was J Crew thinking? Surely it's just an aberration...seriously??!!
Doesn't look like I'll be shopping there this coming season. I hope they go back to what has always worked for them. I do like them.
