{rain, rain go away}

I think it has rained every single day for the last week.  At least it seems that way.
Here's a little tip I learned from some purse aficionados--
Always keep a plastic bag folded up in the bottom of each one of your handbags.  Then if you are ever caught in the rain and have to run to or from your car--just take the bag out of your purse and place the purse into the plastic bag.  Then run like heck!  (If only we could figure out how to save our shoes!)  You can always dry your hair or clothing but we all know that it is not good to get our favorite handbag dripping wet!   ;-)

This was a particularly good bag with a drawstring that came protecting one of my mail order clothing purchases--from I forget where--maybe Neiman's??  Any plastic bag will do, though as long as it is big enough.

GREAT idea! I've never thought to keep a plastic bag in my purse for my purse.

Keep a pair of cute wellies in the car.. yes I confess in my rainier locales they were right behind the drivers seat.

Thank you for your lovely advise, but I think I would prefer to save my hair instead!

Thanks for the idea to save my handbags! I also keep a pair of wellies in my car, however, it always seems to start raining when I'm in a building and my car is parked blocks away ;-)

You are just like me ... I do the same thing, except sometimes when I find myself sans plastic bag, I just stuff my purse under my shirt!

They make shoe rain protectors. I saw them on the today show. They are a lot like the medical ones doctors wear, but they are meant for high heels.

A simple and brilliant idea, but I'm at the point in my life where I've learned to just enjoy my things, weather or not.

There was a time I'd leave my favorite Coach home just because it was raining. Now I decided these things are made to be used and enjoyed (although I do occasionally stick my purse under my jacket if it's pouring) :) http://stylestance.blogspot.com/

Excellent idea! Yesterday I got caught in a rain storm and had to make a mad dash to the car. I had a small umbrella I keep in my purse but the plastic bag would have been much better. I don't know why I've never thought of that before. I keep everything else in my purse. Soon I'll be buying luggage on wheels to tote around. LV does make cute luggage, LOL! Thanks for the tip.

What a fabulous idea. Thank you! It's a great tip for me seeing that I live on the Wet Coast.

That is so smart!! It reminds me of my Nonna's (grandmother) idea of always keeping a rainhat in her purse for rainy days-she's gotta protect that southern shampoo 'n set hairdo!

Let me echo your "rain rain go away" sentiment. I don't know WHEN we've seen so much precipitation. The humidity today is brutal!

This is a great idea and I can't believe I never thought to do this. I can't stand when all of my things get wet.

I hope you had a great weekend!

Great idea... following through is another thing. I'm sure my plastic bag will end up with my umbrella that is NOT with me! ;-)

Great idea, for the 1st year or so I was scared of rain/snow and wouldn't use my LV's b/c I didn't want the stains on my vachetta! I got over it, ha! ha! Great idea though, thanks for posting!

This is a wonderful idea! I wish I had know about this before my once-upon-a-time supple leather bags were victim to water spots from unexpectant rain. :)
