{a little New Orleans architecture}

In the city of New Orleans, old homes are architectural treasures.  Here are a few of my favorites in the Garden District on St. Charles Avenue.:

detail of a "shotgun" house needing a little TLC (this one not on St Charles Ave)

gorgeous detail on this double gallery-style house
(The ceilings of the porches are painted blue to replicate the sky.)

I may or may not have trespassed to get a shot of this beauty...

A pink beauty!
(St Charles Avenue did not flood during Katrina.)

Gorgeous!

The Columns Hotel

The streetcars still run!

I do have more pics (creepy ones coming soon...muaahahaha) so stay tuned!

Every time I go to N.O. I take the St. Charles line all the way West to the curve and then all the way back. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos! I love New Orleans and hope to visit in the very near future.

What a great idea to paint the ceiling porch the color of the sky. Man, I covet those homes.

I love the homes on St. Charles... so pretty. I had a cocktail at The Columns Hotel the night before Katrina. I'm so glad it wasn't badly damaged.

We are heading back to NOLA in a couple of weeks. I'm so excited to see our friends & family. And I've been dieting for weeks...Mmmm, all that great food. Looks like y'all had a fantastic time. Great photos!!! You always dress your daughter so cute. She is a true Southern Belle. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Where did you get your King Cake? Gambino’s?
